God and Religion

I don't know what you believe in, maybe you don't either. So rather then wait around until we figure it out, I'm going to tell you my views. First and foremost, I am a christian. What that means is, I believe in Jesus Christ. Now, I'm going to be honest with you, religion itself is one of my biggest pet peeves....not because I don't believe in organized religion or anything like that, but because of the way people have distorted it. The whole point of christianity is Love. However, most people just see hate and discrimination. They forget the fact that we are ALL sinners...we are all in the same boat. Therefore, we have no right to judge another. If you read your bible, you'll see that Jesus himself hung out with the sinners..the lowest of the low. Among them were prostitutes, murderers, thieves, liars and traders. If he just wanted to point fingers, he would have been made King...not crucified.
The reason I bring this up, is because a lot of people I know turn away from God because of the way people have killed, tormented, and ostrisized people in His name.  As children of Christ, we are supposed to be bringing people toward the Lord, not pushing them away. It's not our job to judge...it's our job to show love and kindness, the way Jesus did. And I'm not just talking about 'hold the door open for a stranger' kindness...I mean genuine empathy toward another human being. Think about it, if we take away all the details of everday life, you'll relaize that everyone goes through the same problems.
If I offend anyone, I apologize. I can't help what I believe in. I wake up every morning and I know without a doubt that God is with me...no matter if my house fell down tomorrow I know that he has a plan for me and that gives me comfort. Sometimes, though, it's hard to share my joy when it's people who are supposed to be on my team that are sending out the wrong message. If you're reading this and disagree, or believe in something else...please feel free to share it. I'm not here to judge..just to listen.
